Recently there has been a plethora of postings over the power of essential oils: what they are, how they can be used, what makes them SO GREAT, etc. For the past two months I’ve experimented with these gems throughout my daily routine, and, I must say, they have extremely powerful properties. I have witnessed dramatic effects in my physical, emotional and mental health. Today I will share with you the essence of essential oils and why you should include them to your daily regimen:
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are aromatic, yet volatile liquid components that are found in plants. One can extract these oils from various plants through steam distillation. These oils have been used for thousands of years for many applications, such as religious rituals, treatment for illness, or even medical applications. Today, there are well over 300 essential oils in use by professional practitioners, each with its own centuries confirmed practical application. While this is an extensive list for herbal remedies and treatment, individuals can still receive rewarding benefits from 3 essential oils: Lavender, Peppermint, and Lemon.
Your Starter Essential Oil Kit
Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint are great starters for anyone who would like to incorporate essential oils in their daily regimen. There’s so many ways these 3 essential oils can be used, and I highly suggest that you include these in your daily lifestyle. Below are each essential oils medical properties, uses, and application recommendations:
Lemon oil can be best used for circulatory problems, arteriosclerosis, obesity, parasites, urinary tract infections, anxiety, hypertension, digestive problems, and acne.
Simply apply 1 drop of lemon essential oil with 1 tbs olive oil and apply either on desired location, inhale diffuse directly, or take as a dietary supplement. Apply 2-3 drops of lemon oil to help sanitize household surfaces, use as a stain remover for laundry,
Caution: Avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to sunlight or UV light within 24 hours.
Lavender can also be used to treat respiratory infections, high blood pressure arteriosclerosis, menstrual problems, skin conditions, scarring, burns, hair loss, insomnia, and nervous tension.
Simply apply 2-4 drops on desired location, inhale directly, diffuse and/or take as a dietary supplement.
Peppermint can be used for rheumatism/arthritis respiratory infections, obesity, viral infections, fungal infections, digestive problems, headaches, nausea, skin conditions, and back problems.
Simply apply 1-2 drops (diluted with 1 tbs of olive oil) to your stomach to relieve stomach cramps or to your temples to enhance focus and reinvigorate the mind, rub several drops to your feet to cool down after an intense workout, or use 1-2 drops to help freshen breath.
